So on the day before New Years we packed our bags and headed off on what was supposed to be a long flight (24 hours), but soon became a ridiculously long flight (35+ hours) including a stop over in Mumbai!
We finally arrived at Heathrow in the evening of New Years Eve, and proceeded almost directly to Slough where we joined the rest of the Beaver / Dean clan for a New Years Celebration!
The girls (very very tired) enjoyed singing and dancing and plenty of food, and great hospitality. This was the first time the girls met their cousins (or second cousins as they kept reminding me).
We managed to spend a couple of days (evenings) with the clan before continuing on our travels... with the first touristy spot being Windsor Castle. Dad had been here back when he was young, and mum & dad had also visited last time they were in England, so it seems like a bit of a family tradition (though the photos are better with the kids in them!)
After Windsor, it was time to go and see where Grandad has been living these last few months... The house-boat is moored in Milton Keynes, about an hour north of Slough where it was even colder than London.
The girls explored the house boat (for the full 4 minutes it took to completely explore it!)
And then next morning we met some of the locals (even dad never realised just how big a swan is up close).
We then continued south to Great Missenden to check out the Roald Dahl museum, on our way into London. Great Missendon is a quaint little town, where Dad started to obsess over small things... Particularly small door ways.
This one was particularly small.
