Our first full day in the UK and we decided to go off to London (from Slough) and see a proper Football match... Arsenal v Fulham at home... It was to be the girls first proper English match (seeing the Gunners in Sydney was great, but its not quite the same).
So after getting back to the hotel at around 1:30am (it was New Years Day), we got the girls up early in the morning to head by train into London. So not only were they very tired, but it was their first real experience of the cold of a London winter!
The train journey to Emirates Stadium took us through Paddington, so of course we had to stop and meet the bear who reminds us so much of Grandma (especially in the movie Christopher Robin)
Upon getting to Islington, we wondered into a Bagel Bakery, and happened to find a rainbow bagel! We walked all over New York to get one of these and failed... who would have thought we would find one in Islington!
We then had to try a burger (or 5) from the one of the many burger trucks on the road to the stadium. This is the one Grandad said was better than all the other ones!
The girls loved the fact that all the roads around the stadium were closed to traffic, and the crowds slowly built. We bought our souvenir game scarves (as it was pretty cold) and headed in.
Grandad had arranged pretty awesome seats for us.
And even though we watched another of our teams win (4-1), continuing the trend of only supporting the winning sides (we've never watched our team lose), we made the trek back to Slough. The girls (all three) were absolutely shattered by this stage!
