Swimming in the River

Towards the end of November, we managed to organise a final camping trip for the year (before everyone gets too busy with holidays and Christmas etc).   A small group of 25 people headed out to Cattai again for a weekend in the sun, and what a great weekend it was.

We got there a night ahead of the rest, so we could stake out the best spot and enjoy a nice quiet night under the skies...

We tested out our new tent, big enough for the growing girls...

And strong enough to keep them in!

Enjoyed a morning breakfast with the locals...

Before the others arrived, we scoped out the opportunity to swim in the river... At first the girls weren't too keen...

Happy to pose though!

And again....

 Some games in the tent...

And a healthy amount of graffiti too...

When everyone arrived it was time to brave the river...which turned out to be beautifully warm on the hot spring afternoon...

Two pairs of twins

To top off what was already shaping up to be a good weekend we headed out to Glenorie this morning to spend some time with the Payne family...

The girls were so excited to play with Grace and Nicola... the four of them seem to be like two pairs of twins when the get together...

The simple agenda for the day was swimming, eating and enjoying good company...

Which seemed to go down quite nicely...

A yummy bbq lunch and one of daddy's pavlovas made for a sleepy afternoon in both houses...

Discovery

Although we've shown the girls this blog before, the idea of it never really caught there attention until today... Keira, after dropping her mouse, accidentally clicked it while picking it up, selecting the link to our blog from the browser's toolbar...

They were both very surprised to see themselves and have since been exploring the pages and remembering so many of their past adventures... Finally the true value of daddy's efforts are being appreciated by the girls...

After our big walk, it was time to focus on new discoveries...  Claire's news for the week required her to produce step-by-step instructions... She decided to make pancakes (purple one's to be precise...).

Claire managed to prepare and cook a full batch of pancakes... When it came time for the final photo, dad placed the peanut butter, nutella and maple syrup around the pancakes... But Claire (who's obviously much more thoughtful than dad) said no... Some of her classmates may be allergic to nuts, and she didn't want them to feel left out...so it was just maple syrup in the photo for her news!

Also on the path of discovery was Keira who in the last couple of weeks has completed her preschool orientation sessions and is super excited that her bestie's are all going to be joining her at North Rocks PS next year!

This week also signalled the start of a new education (hopefully)...with the girls both having trial sessions on the Piano...

And the end of the session, Claire came over to us, and so matter-of-factly stated, "Dad, you need to buy a piano"...

After all this learning, it was a well deserved end to the day by celebrating Lucia's 5th Birthday...

Followed by an afternoon in the pool (complete with cookies n cream ice cream) with Iris and Irvin and their cousin Veronica...

And its still on Saturday!!!
