Jervis Bay | March 2017

This weekend we decided to have a mini-break at Jervis Bay.  We started out by taking Friday off work (and school) and heading down south... We drove through Kangaroo Valley, quick a stop off for some very tasty pies, and to enjoy the views at Fitzroy Falls...

Once we got to the house in Nowra, we thought we'd head out to a beach (given the weather forecast was rain...and there was blue skies, we thought we better take advantage)...  So we headed to Shoalhaven Heads where we had pretty much this entire stretch of coast to ourselves!

Saturday morning, after enjoying breakfast at a local cafe, we headed to Huskisson, where we were scheduled to join a dolphin watching cruise...  Before starting we spent some time on another beautiful beach, again all to ourselves!

Soon it was time to get on the boat...its not all that clear, but the boat to the left is the one we were boarding...

We're all dressed in swimwear as we were set to do boom-netting, which is where we climb into what is essentially a fishing net and get dragged behind the boat!

The boom-netting was pretty awesome (though it was rather cold in the bay)... Of all of us I think Claire had the best time!

After getting back in the boat (and trying to dry off a little) we cruised around the beautiful Jervis Bay for an hour or so...looking for some of the resident bottle-nose dolphins...

On the lookout...

Luckily, after a while of looking, we found a small pod, including a couple of baby dolphins (almost visible in the far left...

Just before it was time to head back a couple of the dolphins came up right beside the boat in the crystal clear waters...

To top off the afternoon, we headed out to Hyam's Beach to enjoy some of the worlds whitest sand... with a near deserted beach again!

Sunday was another opportunity for a breakfast in a local cafe...followed by a trip to Berry... there we wondered around sampling both the famous donut van and the lolly shops!

And then, on the way home we popped into Port Kembla to explore the area, and then lastly stopped an Austinmer Beach for some fish and chips and some time in the water...

Another great weekend away...
