First stop was Singapore, but only for 12 hours or so before flying onto Semarang. It's always a little surprising just how much you can squeeze into Singapore in a short time though. We arrived at 9pm, but still managed to wonder around Orchard Road and sample some of the food we miss so much...
In the morning we managed a train trip to Marina Bay Sands, some more food, followed by some more food, all before 10am!
Then off to Changi, where the girls met some interesting fruit.
And we were all set to jet to Semarang.
What follows are not necessarily in chronological order...the two weeks in Semarang seem to go by very quickly, and its amazing how quickly Shelda and Dylan are growing. The girls have so much fun with their bigger cousins, and wish they could spend a lot more time with them!
Mummy and Shelda, who's quickly blossoming into a teen...
Claire still has a while to go, but she thinks its going to be sooner (and it will probably be sooner than Daddy can handle!)
This is Claire just being herself... In this photo she looks a lot like daddy and auntie Karen when we were young...
While we were in Semarang, Claire decided she was going to do a News presentation at her school, showing her friends about her trip overseas. So we got photos in all the places we went and meant so much to us... Here are the girls out the front outside of Candi... Shelda & Dylan (and their mum and dad)'s house in the hills...
And Ayen's new store... First Golf & Bike. We spent a lot of time in this store during the holiday... Claire & Keira enjoying some golf, mummy enjoying a chat and rest, and daddy dreaming of the bikes he can't own...
Claire tried out the road bikes, but the XS wasn't quite her size it seems...
And she seemed much more comfortable on the scooter!
Claire also really enjoyed the golf... with some expert training by papa Ayen, she's got a new hobby (and daddy has an excuse to head to the driving range more often!)
Most of the girls in the store...
Downstairs from the shop is a cafe, Kopi O, which the girls seemed to enjoy. Here they are sharing a chocolate milkshake...
Not sure of the cause of these....but...
Another favourite activity while in Semarang is a trip to the hair salon... Claire loves nothing more than having her hair washed, head massaged and a nice haircut. Keira's not so keen on the wash, but she does love the princess treatment of the salon.
One rainy afternoon, this man turned up at the house with a performing monkey and snake... Not what you would normally expect to turn up in your driveway, but the girls thought it was amazing...
Here's Claire with Ie Mer...
Semawis night market.
Just a few photos...
Another fave pastime...Happy Land...
Happy girls...
Towards the end of the trip, we arranged a play date with a couple of the girls from SIS... Here's Tiara & Olivia (and of course Claire and Keira). The girls were so happy to see each other after 6 months away...
Dancing girls on the steps of Koeno Koeni.
And Keira about to get blown away in the wind.
Crazy girls
No idea!
A last trip on the train...
And a round of tick-tock...
Before it was time to pack up and head home...
Farewells at the airport...
And true asian-style traveling...
