Well, we'll start of this blog with a happy birthday to daddy, who is now officially an old-man! Though a very happy old-man thanks to the two wonderful girls he has to celebrate his birthday's with!
Birthday aside, the girls have had a busy couple of weeks...meeting up with some friends, attending parties, and generally having a good time.
After being in the house for 4 months, we decided it was time we all did a bit of gardening, so the girls grabbed a shovel each and started to help. Even mummy and daddy got into the action, happily hacking away at a tree or two (Grandma seems to think we have both been inspired by grandad in that respect).
This weekend, daddy decided to take the girls on a bit of a bush walk through the nature reserve behind our house. We back onto the Bidjigal Reserve, which is a bit of parkland which extends up towards Castle Hill. While we only walked about 2km (which is quite a lot for little legs) through to Northmead (mummy had to drive more than 3 times as far), it was a great introduction to bush walking for the girls.
The highlight for the girls seemed to be the Rifle Range Stairs (which are also called the Golden Stairs it seems)... which were large bush stairs going up the side of a valley, around some very large boulders/rocks and up to the road... Both girls insisted that the stairs were not for people, but for giants....
Keira spent most of the walk on daddy's shoulder, but Claire really took to the bush, especially the areas without a track, forcing her way through the shrub and happily climbing over rocks and tree trunks...
Here are a couple of videos from the trek.
